6 Fake Quotes To Counter Fake News On Facebook And Twitter Social Media

Donald Miller once said, “In the age of information, ignorance is a choice.” What do you do when you see a person, friend or family member share fake news? Confronting them will only push them further away from the truth. I have discovered that the only solution is to join them and share stories, quotes or news that are so fake it’s actually insulting. This can be a test too, if they agree with the quote, chances are you are dealing with an idiot and the rule of the law as told by George Carlin — ‘Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.’

Ignorant people will remain ignorant, made worse by today’s social media. Unlike the older days where newspapers and TV are ‘controlled’ mediums, today’s people have too many choices, they only subscribe to Facebook news feeds that are geared towards their political views, further reinforcing their narrow point of views with no alternative source. They will skip videos that they dislike on YouTube and listen to those that agree with their social agenda, therefore shutting out all possible reasoning.

That is what they get for having too much freedom. Too little is as bad as too much, left wing nuts will only listen to left wing news, while right wing nuts will only tune into whatever suits their taste. Both extremes are bad for the health of any nations, this can be seen with the Donald Trump vs Hillary Clinton 2016 US Presidential Election where so many fake news are created, both sides create fake news, if you disagree on this, it goes to show you only listen to news that suits your political belief, it is time to listen to both sides, keep the good part and discard the fake. Nobody put this nicely as described by Denzel Washington in this current climate of Fake News society they live in.
